Question One | Click for Answer
I've recently had chemo and my hair has come back very curly and thick. I have coloured it myself just before christmas using less chemicals as it was its first colour. Is it ok to use salon colours now and any tips on how to deal with curly hair and stying?
| Answer |
I would strongly recommend booking a free colour consultation at a salon first so they can carry out a skin and strand test to make sure your hair is strong enough to take a salon colour.
Re styling curly hair I can strongly recommend Sebastian Potion 9 which will help calm the curl and condition at the same time.

Question Two | Click for Answer
I have very thin hair which is also quite weak from me pulling it out; i would like thicker & longer hair - would hair extensions work for me or will it ruin my hair further?
| Answer |
Hair extensions could work very well for you, but this will depend on your hair texture at the moment. I would advise booking a Free consultation at either our Derby St Peters Way Salons situated in the Westfield Centre or at our Arnold Salon as they use the high quality Raccoon Hair Pieces and Products.
At Derby please ask for an Appointment with Sabrina 01332 372237, at Arnold please ask for an Appointment with Aaron 0115 9206902.

Question Three | Click for Answer
I have golden blonde highlights, but I'm not satisfied with the "yellow" tint it gives off. I want to have pretty blonde hair, with no yellow or gold tints and without going platinum. What color highlights would I ask for next time I go to the stylist? And how do I maintain this perfect color without doing serious damage to my hair?
| Answer |
Really the only way of losing the yellow in your colour is to add an ashen tone to the mix, but this can sometimes look a little like a platinum colour.
I would ask your hairdresser for a strand test first so you can see the colour before committing to the highlights. This means a small clipping of hair being cut off and coloured with the proposed colour choice.

Question Four | Click for Answer
I am 38 and starting to feel like my hair is really aging me I have always had short hair but been trying to grow it thinking if might help.
My qestion is to look bit younger should I go short or long?
| Answer |
To be honest as we get older it is usually more ageing to keep your hair longer but a lot depends on the colour and condition of your hair and your skin tones.
I would take these things into consideration and also your lifestyle before recommending a certain style, but as a general rule of thumb longer styles are more ageing.

Question Five | Click for Answer
Why does my hair colour not last very long and doesn't cover all my grey ?
| Answer |
This could be for a number of reasons.
Firstly the colour choice may not be the correct one for your hair.
Secondly it could be that your hair is very resistant to colour and you may have to have your hair pre-softened to allow the colour to penetrate the hair.
Lastly I would strongly recommend booking a free colour consultation at a professional salon to discuss the problem you are having.

Question Six | Click for Answer
I have pretty thin and flat hair. If I dry my hair using a turban and microfibre towel will I still be able to give it volume ? Eg. Will it negate the volumising shampoo.
| Answer |
The only way of getting volume into the hair is with the right product choice i.e. shampoo, volumising spray and of course some form of heat.
Whether it's a hair dryer or heated rollers, ideally some form of heat needs to be applied.

Question Seven | Click for Answer
My hair felt very damaged and dry. So I have for the last six months used shampoos and conditioners for dry and damaged hair (I have been colouring it for a few years) but now my ends (and 10 cm up) are almost fine but the roots gets so greasy so fast. Have to wash it every day..
| Answer |
The two important things to remember are to use a shampoo specifically for oily hair / scalp and use a repair or hydrate conditioner on the ends.
Also make sure when you wash your hair it is with luke warm water not hot, as this makes the scalp produce oil quicker.
