Nottingham based salon group: KH Hair scoops national award

Nottingham based KH Hair – the largest hairdressing group in the east Midlands – has won a national award in recognition of its outstanding client services and excellence in hairdressing techniques, beating off tough competition from over 100 entries.

The group won Best Regional Salon Group, presented by the leading consumer magazine HAIR, published by IPC. Now in their fourth year the HAIR awards were created to recognise the best salons and hair products available within the UK.

Judges were drawn from a panel of internationally renowned hairdressers and HAIR magazine readers. KH Hair were required to submit an entry which detailed five reasons why they are a truly exceptional group, relevant imagery, three testimonials from clients and photographic examples of their hairdressing work. The final test was for a HAIR magazine reader to visit one of the salons as a mystery shopper and complete a report on the service and standards.

KH group board directors Darren Messias and Tim Fee received a trophy from Louise White, editor of top selling consumer magazine HAIR, at a glitzy event held (Tuesday September 28) at one of London’s most popular and stylish venues, The Vinyl Factory

Speaking about the win, Darren Messias said: “Winning this award is a huge accolade for our group. We love what we do and it shows. Our salon teams work incredibly hard and we are immensely proud of their dedication. Their passion, skill and commitment help us to achieve the amazing client loyalty that we do – an average of 5,000 clients visit our 20 salons weekly and over 91% of our clients are repeat business.”

This is the second award this year for KH Hair. The group won Most Effective Website in The Sapphires awards, presented by the hairdressing industry’s leading magazine Salon Business.

KH Hair group, whose head office and training academy is based in Long Eaton, are British Hairdressing Business Awards nominees and holders of the Gold Star Salon award presented by the Fellowship for British Hairdressing.

The group has 20 salons throughout the east Midlands – 8 of those are based in Nottinghamshire. The KH group employs over 300 people and can trace its history in Nottingham back to 1890 when William Hall opened his barbershop in Long Eaton.
